An Architectural Idea Hatches in London

For most of the world, the thought of government buildings in London evokes notions of the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and various palaces inhabited by kings and queens over the centuries.

So, what is the casual tourist expected to make of this glass and steel egg squatting hard by the side of the river Thames?

Believe it or not, this is London's city hall.  Inside it's supposed to be quite a lovely and pleasant space in which to work and visit.  You can actually go all the way to the top of the building and get a view of the city skyline.

But from the outside -- well, let's just hope it will look historic and regal in a few hundred years like the rest of London's great structures.
